Once Again the Redbirds get the best in a deal with the Padres…

I know, it’s getting old real fast especially if you been a Padres fan for the past decade or more. But, seriously if this franchise traded Ozzie Smith to the Cardinals for a shortstop who was on his way down physically. I can swallow that one since Garry Templeton did pay some dividends for the Padres. But, when you trade one of your most consistent starting pitcher Woody Williams for an aging OF Ray Lankford, you see where I am going with this. Lankford did virtually nothing for the Padres and was eventually released. Fast forward to last year –cringes– Some how the Front Office decided to replace an agile Mike Cameron for glacial Jim Edmonds. Yes, where did they go looking for a centerfielder ? You guess it ! Those same old St Louis Cardinals. They suckered the Padres to trade upcoming prospect 3B David Freese who was at A ball the year before for another aging CF Jim Edmonds. Hmmm, Edmonds was released in late April and Freese tore up AAA for the Redbirds. Talk about Groundhog day ! Now, the club decides to trade SS Khalil Greene, what a bright idea ! Oh yes, the Cardinals were ready and willing, they stepped right up to the plate and suckered the Padres Franchise once again. Giving up P Mark Worrell and some prospect to be determined during Spring Training. Well, it doesn’t take a rocket scientist nor a Harvard Graduate to figure this out. Don’t trade with the Cardinals again ! They have your number, Hello !….. Another serious elbow injury haunts this franchise and perhaps thats all the bad karma returning to a franchise who has been cheap.  In all seriousness, maybe there needs to be some house cleaning done in the front office. I can see one bad trade, but four in total with the same club. Hello ! You thought Wall Street had problems !

A befitting song would be “Black Dog” by Zeppelin
