Last fling in Peoria on Getaway day……

Today’s game with the Seattle Mariners is the final one for Spring Training 2009 in Peoria, as the Padres took a beating. Padres Chris Young did his best impression of Cha Seung Baek, by giving up 9 runs in 3 2/3 innings. Historically, Young never fares well in the Arizona training camp and I wouldn’t worry about Young’s performance. Eulogio De La Cruz was hammered for 5 runs in 1 1/3 innings and let’s hope this does not become a consistent pattern.

It was reported yesterday that team prankster Brian Giles had driven a bus to the ballpark and gave a few players a ride around the field. I guess Giles and few other players were ready to break from camp and head to San Diego. Since, we are speaking about pranks, here is a video on baseball pranks.

As the players, coaches, front office and team’s equipment makes that trek across the desert back to San Diego. Here’s one darn good song by the Doobie Brothers, titled ‘Long Train Runnin’. Hey Padres Fans, the boys will be in San Diego on Friday against the Halos.
