On Friday evening at Petco Park, the visiting Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim defeated the San Diego Padres by the score of 6-5. The game was a very entertaining one and I am sad to say not many San Diegans came out to see the ballgame. There were alot of red in the stands as it was very apparent some folks from Orange county made their way down to Petco.

This game had everything from a Homer, triple, 4 doubles, and 3 stolen bases. Angels’ OF Vladimir Guerrero made Petco Park look very small with a towering homer to left field. Out of the 4 doubles in the game, the Angel’s had three of them. Two of the three stolen bases were from Padres’ SS Everth Cabrera. Padres’ starting pitcher Walter Silva didn’t fare too well and from the stands it appears Silva was not moving his ball away or inside, too many were fat pitches. On the other hand, Angels’ starting pitcher Kelvim Escobar looked really good for his 1st start of the spring and drove in a run with a single. Overall, I was pleased to see the Padres battle the Angels and this Padres team will be much better than last year’s.

As the Padres and Angels wrap up Spring Training 2009 in Anaheim tonight. A song that would be most appropriate for those fans who may be driving up and down 5 fwy and staying in San Diego/Anaheim, ‘Hotel California’ by the Eagles.
