Big MO had made another appearance for the Padres, this time in Citizens Bank Park. The Padres are definitely stirring some interest not only around the league but in San Diego too. As callers into the local sports talk radio station Mighty XX 1090, have been voicing their pleasure and excitement of the Padres. Later on tonight, the series will resume with the defending champions Phillies and let’s hope the boys come through again as Shawn Hill takes the mound for the Padres.
You Got To Be Kidding Me
This weekly award goes to New York Mets’ P Mike Pelfrey and RF Ryan Church as they both did their best impressions of the Keystone Cops routine. Pelfrey broke out into a semi-unorthodox break dance routine on the mound when his front spikes got caught with the mound. The judges behind home plate broke out the judging scorecards….1.8, 1.9, 1.3 for agility….A few innings later, Mets’ RF Ryan Church was back peddling with his glove up in the air while shouting ‘I got it….I got it…..I got it….oh I don’t have it !!’ as the ball deflected off Church’s glove for a 3 base error.
Speaking about wacky and strange things happening in baseball. Here’s a video that involves Phillie’s starting pitcher Brett Myers, who happens to be the starting pitcher tonight for the Phillies against the Padres. This is one funny prank, do enjoy.
Quote of the Week
Baseball is a game where a curve is an optical illusion, a screwball can be a pitch or a person, stealing is legal and you can spit anywhere you like except in the umpire’s eye or on the ball. ~Jim Murray
While the Padres are resting from that One Wild Night in Philly, here’s a music video with a song titled ‘One Wild Night’ by Bon Jovi.
