Yeah, the season is over and let’s change the team name from Padres to Prospects. There is no fooling anybody or please just do not put up a front like Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke and Fed Reserve President Timothy Geithner is doing at the moment. Well a few of us know that America is worst off than Greece but shhhh it’s okay we got our San Diego Prospects….eerrrr Padres I meant.
There are no two ways about it and clock has hit midnight, the bell has rung. My prediction is right after the All-Star game, Health Bell, Ryan Ludwich, Chad Qualls, and Jason Barlett will most likely be gone. Yeah, I know I said Barlett and the reason behind it, GM Hoyer has to make a blockbuster deal before losing the fan base. Let’s face the fact, there is only so much any legit season ticket holder will accept trading major league ballplayers for prospects. We’ve been through this since 1999 and what this franchise desperately needs is another blockbuster deal like the one that former Padres GM Towers did with Texas when landing Adrian Gonzalez and Chris Young. So let’s set aside the smoke screen (hot air) and put on your overalls Jed Hoyer, we want to see a blockbuster deal. One that will put your stamp on this franchise. It’s about time, Hoyer steps out of Towers shadows and comes through with a major deal. The Gonzalez deal is not what I consider a blockbuster deal, at this current moment none of the players the Padres have received are impact players, just merely prospects. How many more shutouts does the Padres Front Office need in order to finally get it that this team can not hit at all with runners in scoring position. I equate that with a kicker we have in town with the Chargers, who is the best regular season kicker in NFL history. But can not kick worth a lick during the playoffs. What good does it do when it’s “Money Time” as Magic Johnson once termed the playoffs, if a player can not come through with results. You simply get rid of them. Enough Said !…..
Well, with the smoke screens of our leaders are presenting to us and the performance of the San Diego Prospects….errr Padres. MLB’s best AAA club who provides good and great players to other MLB clubs, cheers to all of us who support this organization. A most befitting song is by Canadian Blues Artist Rick Taylor, called “Drunken Lullaby”….
