Ahhh Team USA defeated the neighbors to the North –Canadians– in a thrilling game by the score of 6-5. Team USA had squandered many opportunities to put the game away and left the bases loaded in two consecutive innings. Padres pitcher Jake Peavy started the game and was his usually self –all pumped up with alot of intensity– which kind of work against him in the 1st inning as it appears Jake was overthrowing a bit. Jake eventually settled down to only allow three runs with the last one being a rocket shot into the stands by Canadians’ Joey Votto.
On Sunday, Team USA faces a very formible team in Venezuela. Astros’ Roy Oswalt will be starting for USA. Oswalt is Jake’s good friend and business partner. I expect another intense game and most likely a very close one as these two countries are the favorites to advance to the next round.
Back to the States, specifically Peoria Arizona where the Padres were battered by the Oakland A’s. The Padres pitching for the last two days have been giving up way too many bases on balls. It’s still early in Spring Training though these young pitchers should get their act together soon because every opportunity they are given should be capitalized.
USA ! USA ! USA ! Let it Rip Boss !!
